'New Roots' Branding

New Roots is a brand identity created for a bluegrass music festival in Atlanta, Georgia.

The music of bluegrass features a harmonious blend of different cultures from American history, and so the branding of this festival reflects the rural antiquity while adding a modern twist to encourage younger listens to partake in the genre.

Three-part series of food illustrations done in watercolor.

1. CHROMATIC GREY - Inspired by the last meal requested by a prison inmate before his execution.

2. COMPLIMENTARY - Inspired by the weirdest possible food combinations that someone, somewhere, probably eats.

1. TRIAD - Postcard for a bakery inspired by my love of all things sugary.

Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. Every year, BPA holds a National Leadership Conference where its members can gather to compete and network.

I designed the "Soar to Success" campaign for the BPA 2017 National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. I competed against other students with this project, and received extremely enthusiastic feedback from the judges. Ultimately, my design placed 2nd at the regional level.

In order to produce these designs, I self-taught myself how to 3D model using Cinema 4D by MAXON. Over 25 hours were spent learning the software alone, and another 20 or so were spent modeling my scene and then finishing the poster and logo in post-production. I used a low-polygon modeling technique for the artwork to add a more "fun" tone to the piece, and to make the artwork look like it could have been been papercrafted.

A 25 page publication about Margaret Hamilton, the programmer behind the Apollo 11 launch. Researched and designed over the course of 5 weeks, this project allowed me to study the interaction of type hierarchies and their integration with images.

The project was printed onto transfer paper, which was then heatpressed onto dot matrix paper. This gives the project a french fold and a unique textile feel. The book was bound with heavy manilla cardstock in order to give an authentic case-file feel.

Multimedia Info Booklet

During my junior and senior year of high school, I took a career prep course called Multimedia that sparked my interest in design. Before I graduated, I redesigned my teacher's informational booklet that advertises the course to future students.

The multimedia curriculum can be divided into four main categories: graphic design, web design, video, & animation. Students do not necessarily have to be good at all four categories, but they should be willing to learn all four categories!

An experimental 3D poster design inspired by inspired by artist Vasjen Katro's 'Baugasm' project, in which he created one poster every day for 365 days. Katro's art plays heavily on abstract shapes, inspiring me to create three-dimensional forms that have that same intriguing ambiguity.

Diversity in Hollywood

We all participate in the culture of Hollywood, but is the culture of Hollywood truly an accurate representation of our reality? I created this infographic in 2015 for my Multimedia class as a junior in high school to help depict some of the misrepresentations that are still at Hollywood's core.

TIn my high-school Multimedia class, each student is required to complete a senior project that focuses on the subject area of their choice. In an attempt to better learn Adobe After Effects and motion design, I decided to specialize in kinetic typography. The result is the following lyric video created for the song "My Life Would Suck Without You" by Kelly Clarkson.

Alcohol Awareness Video Series

During my senior year of high school, I produced the following three-part video series intended to inform viewers about alcohol addiction. I had only two weeks to complete the entire project due to a competitive deadline. After writing the script, recording the narration, and clipping the audio, I drafted the storyboards in Adobe Illustrator. I then animated the scenes in Adobe After Effects.

The final videos were embedded on the Fragments Foundation website, a site I developed and presented competitively through Business Professionals of America.

Hi, I'm Sarah

About Me

Sarah Riedlinger
Bio

I am a multimedia designer who enjoys working in web, print, and animation. My work typically features bright colors and bold shapes to bring a sense of playfulness and joy to everyday design.

After discovering Photoshop at age 15, I spent most of my free time after school playing around with digital images, before bouncing to website coding with HTML and CSS. In high school, I was introduced to the term “multimedia design” and learned how to combine traditional imagery in modern mediums such as websites and motion videos.

Currently I am a student at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication Design. I also have minors in Digital Media Production and User Experience Design.
